Health and Safety Policy
Health and Wellness:
Please prioritize your health and the well-being of others. If you feel ill or exhibit symptoms like a sore throat, cough, fever, or excessively runny nose, we kindly ask that you stay home to recover.
If you're not feeling 100% but aren't sure if you're sick, please consider wearing a mask while in our space. Masks are not mandatory, but we encourage anyone who prefers an extra layer of protection to wear one at their discretion. We respect everyone’s choices regarding health and safety and ask for the same respect in return.
If you begin to feel unwell during Mischief Makers programming, we may request that you wear a mask or, if necessary, leave early to ensure the safety of all participants. Due to the interactive and communal nature of our workshops, we are unable to offer make-up classes or refunds for sessions missed due to illness.
Physical Safety:
As a creative studio and makerspace, we work with various tools and materials that require specific safety precautions.
Footwear: Closed-toe shoes are mandatory at all times within Mischief Makers to protect your feet from sharp objects and heavy materials. If it is raining or snowing, wet footwear must be removed and dry indoor shoes must be worn. Rubber boots or plastic shoes like Crocks or Natives are prohibited.
Protective Gear: Depending on the activity, participants may be required to use safety goggles, gloves, or aprons, which we will provide. They must be used as instructed. Failure to do so may result in the participant’s immediate removal from the program.
Equipment Use: Using equipment or machines in our shop will require the participant to fill out a special waiver followed by safety training. Both must be completed before the participant is given access to the workshop. Equipment must only be used as intended, and safety protocols must be followed at all times. Unsafe or innappropriate use of equipment will result in the participant’s immediate removal from the program.
Conduct in the Shop: To maintain a safe environment for everyone, absolutely no running or roughhousing is permitted anywhere on Mischief Makers property. Participants should move carefully and be aware of their surroundings at all times. By entering our facility, individuals accept responsibility for their own behaviour. Any form of disruption, harassment, or misuse of equipment or materials may result in the participant’s immediate departure, and potential ban, from Mischief Makers. No refunds will be given to participants who make poor decisions while at Mischief Makers.
Inclusivity Policy
At Mischief Makers, we are dedicated to creating a welcoming and safe environment where everyone is valued and respected. We're all about supporting each other in a community that celebrates creativity and mutual respect.
Respect for Individuals:
We have zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, or any disrespectful behavior towards our staff, volunteers, or program participants. It’s crucial that everyone feels secure and supported here. We expect everyone who enters our space to act with kindness and empathy, and strive to uplift one another whenever possible.
Respectful Use of Equipment and Materials:
Handling our studio supplies and equipment with care is essential. Misusing tools, neglecting materials, or ignoring safety protocols can endanger everyone. We embrace diversity in all forms and encourage a wide range of ideas and expressions. Discrimination of any kind—whether based on age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ability, or any other aspect of identity—is not tolerated. We are committed to making Mischief Makers accessible to everyone and will adapt our space to meet community needs wherever possible.
